It was by chance that I came accross Tjalf Sparnaay’s paintings. Before watching this documentary, I knew literally nothing about the artist. I was soon drawn to the unique style of his compositions. Photorealism is the genre in Sparnaay’s paintings. This genre is about painting/drawing photos as realistically as possible.
What’s most appealing in Sparnaay’s pantings is that they make the viewer experience reality once again by unraveling the beauty that exists in very ordinary objects. From a fried egg to a ketchup bottle to a Coca-cola crushed can, the objects are inflated to large formats and painted with high detail and clarity.
Below are my favorite paintings. For more, you can visit the artist’s homepage.
